Options for cleaning upholstery
In the home, dust tends to accumulate a lot. This is something that you simply cannot present, but you can
work to nip it in the bud by keeping your house clean on a regular basis. Upholstered furniture, because it is part
of the interior of your house, also falls victim to the accumulation of dust over time, which can make furniture
look dull or dingy and unattractive. Carpet and upholstery cleaning is the ideal solution to this problem and it
simply does not have to be difficult for you to accomplish on your own.
Traditionally, the best way to get your upholstery clean was simply to use a vacuum on it. You could make use of
the dozens of little hand attachments available to slowly go over every inch of couches and chairs, and even
draperies. Unfortunately, the dirt was still there. You probably had no idea at the time that there was dirt, grime
and stains buried deep in the fabric of your favorite furniture. So what could you do to take your carpet and
upholstery cleaning up a notch? This is where steam-cleaning processes come in.
Upholstery steam cleaning is a popular way to remove stains, dirt, mold and grime from furniture. The main
method of steam cleaning involves water extraction. Typically you would mix a cleaning solution intended for
upholstery or draperies in with a specific amount of water to create a mild cleaning solution intended specifically
for this purpose. Using a hand tool with a hose from your steam cleaner, you could slowly force water into the
fabric, which attracts and traps the dirt and stains, and then you would turn around and extract the water back
out, taking all the dirt with it. This is an outstanding method for steam cleaning, and it really gets the job
done. The only downside is that you have to wait for the upholstery to dry before you can use your furniture
again.
There are other options for steam cleaning, but they do not work as well on most upholstery. The water
extraction method is ideal as it can penetrate through fabric to find the dirt and can draw it all back out to
leave you with furniture that looks just like new.
